Whenever I'm asked what my all time favourite Zombie Movie is, nine times out of ten, I'll answer WILD ZERO. In fact, this movie is arguably the coolest movie of all time and so it has a place in my top-ten favourite movies, zombies or not.
This movie has everything that you could possibly imagine that is cool, all wrapped up in one video. It has Zombies and gore (some awesome headshots), guns (lots of guns), motorcycles, fast cars, armed robbery, drinking, UFO's (lots of UFOs), Rock N Roll (Guitar Wolf are among the main characters), an awesome soundtrack (see the aformentioned Guitar Wolf as well as some great other artists including The Phantom Surfers and Greg Oblivion), hot Asian girls (and a hermaphrodite too), Love, Violence, action and the list goes on and on.......
So where to start?!?!
Well there is this guy named Ace.

And he's a Rock N Roller and big fan of Guitar Wolf. So he's at this show and decides to meet Guitar Wolf and wanders in on a stand off between Guitar Wolf and 'The Captain' who manages the club. The Captain has forsaken Rock N Roll for the money and says ROck N Roll is dead. Well that's enough for Ace.....

Ace let's his feelings on Rock N Roll be known, and gets a knockout punch and precipitates a quick gunfight which leaves one goon with his head shot off and a the Captain's fingers shot off.

Because of his devotion to Rock N Roll, Guitar Wolf makes Ace his bloodbrother and gives him a whistle to blow if he is ever in danger. Later on Ace gets into more danger than you can shake a stick at when there is a UFO invasion and a Zombie uprising.

Without giving too much away, Guitar WOlf comes to the rescue, teaming up with a couple wanna-be stick-up artists and a female mecenary arms dealer who hates it when Zombies interupt her shower.

All the while, the Captain, armed to the teeth, follows along to enact his vengence...

The action is near non stop as Ace learns the true meaning of
Rock N Roll and Guitar Wolf (and Bass Wolf and Drum Wolf too) with their Rock N Roll super-powers and the others battle both the Zombies, the UFOs, and the Captain. It's almost too cool for words!!!
Maybe you should just check out the Trailer:
When I first heard of this flick back in 2003, I had to have it. My wife ended up getting me a bootlegged VHS for Xmas, but the quality wasn't that great. I'd heard Synapse Films was releasing it in North America on DVD, but I didn't want to wait. I knew there were VCD versions on Ebay so I started checking auctions. Much to my surprise I discovered an auction for the German DVD release by Rapid Eye Movies and this auction mentioned it had an English subtitle track. So soon enough, the DVD was mine. And it was a good thing to I didn't wait for the Synapse release, because it didn't come until over a year later.
The Synapse release is pretty cool though. It has a different set of extras including a built in version of the Infamous Wild Zero Drinking Game.
The Wild Zero Drinking Game has been an institution since this movie first came out. It appeared on discussion boards and at one time even had a Webpage dedicated to it. Basically it involves taking a drink whenever the following cool things happen:
-a zombie head pops
-someone combs their hair
-fire shoots out of anything
-someone yells ROCK AND ROLL!
-someone drinks
-something explodes
The Synapse DVD has a feature that pops up on screen to remind you, which you may need to use since if you do play this game with anything but near-beer, you WILL be drunk off your ass 98 minutes later. That many cool things happen!
